Safe and gentle tooth extractions by skilled holistic dentist Dr. Yolanda Citron.
A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Severe tooth decay, infection, or damage due to breakage are just some of the reasons that you may require a tooth extraction. If you’re considering braces, your orthodontist may request that you have a tooth removed to help with overcrowding.
Tooth extractions may also be done in place of a root canal. While root canals are usually quite effective at solving a problem, they can still fail. Holistically speaking, extracting the tooth may be a better option for some patients. Before a tooth is extracted, Dr. Cintron will take x-rays, review your medical history, and discuss all of the options available to you.
Before and After Photos:
Dr. Cintron can complete the procedure for you quickly and with minimal discomfort. She’ll start by numbing the area around the tooth including the tooth, jaw, and gums to lessen any discomfort. During the actual process, you will feel a lot of pressure. The anesthetic will have numbed the nerves, so you should not feel any pain.
After the Extraction
After Dr. Cintron removes the tooth, you may experience a small amount of bleeding. This is completely normal. Placing a small amount of gauze in the empty socket and biting down on it for 30-45 minutes should control it. For the first few days, rinse your mouth gently and avoid brushing the teeth next to the tooth socket. A cold cloth or ice bag will help minimize pain and swelling.
Once the tooth is removed, problems including jaw pain, teeth shifting, and difficulty chewing can occur. It will be import to replace the tooth. Dr. Cintron will discuss a number of restorative dental alternatives including dentures and implants to replace the extracted tooth, and will help you to decide which option is best for you. Dr. Cintron ensures your safety and well-being throughout the process by offering the most natural, holistic options available.
