The way dental implants are designed promotes treatment that is of great value for the individuals we serve. Conventional tooth replacement does not replicate the design of natural teeth — dental bridges and removable dentures replace the portion of the tooth visible above the gum line, which is the crown. Denture crowns also sit on top of a base designed to look like gummy tissue. These options do not replace the portion of the tooth that “roots” it to the jawbone.
Dental implants account for both the crown above the gum line as well as the tooth root. The implant is precisely positioned in the jawbone and crafted from a biocompatible material, enabling it to naturally fuse with the surrounding bone. Once the implant has effectively become a part of the jaw, it is ready to be topped with a lovely, non-metal crown! When each implant is positioned strategically in the jaw, this system can also replace several teeth or all of the teeth in an upper or lower dental arch. Since the fewest implants are placed to provide optimal support to a maximum number of replacement teeth, this technique is not cost-prohibitive. In fact, we may be able to replace an entire upper or lower jaw of teeth with as few as four implants.
