I love laser dentistry. I have been using lasers for over 25 years and I am so happy. I cannot go a day without using my laser because it is so gentle.
I do surgeries. I use it as a scalpel, but it just cuts dry. There’s no bleeding. There’s no inflammation.
The patient comes the next day, they even ask us, let me see the photos to see if you really did the surgery because it is so painless, it’s so atraumatic. We use it also for decontamination of gums, antibacterial, antiviral. I have used laser dentistry for 25 years.
If somebody comes with a herpetic lesion, we can zap it and that herpes lesion will never come back on that spot. We use it for apoptosis, which is like, they call it the cold sores inside the mouth. Sometimes people eat strawberries or they eat something that causes the mouth to get sores inside, and they dry up in contact.
Also, I use laser dentistry to do frenectomies, which is like the separation, you know, sometimes people have a tongue tie, cut it with the laser in a minute, boom, and you can actually use your tongue and make your tongue longer. We use laser dentistry for extractions to kill bacteria and decay, and you can even use laser dentistry for small cavities, and then it’s a very, very friendly, atraumatic, and actually stimulates the cells. If you have a cavity and it’s very close to the nerve, I use the laser for decontamination of the tooth, kills the bacteria, and also stimulates the cells to produce secondary dentin.
So, laser dentistry is used in our practice daily, and I cannot imagine practicing dentistry without a laser.
