Gum Grafting

Cutting-edge techniques restore the beautifully balanced appearance of your smile by supporting gum health!

As a talented and globally-recognized cosmetic dentist, Dr. Yolanda Cintron appreciates that a healthy gum line has a tremendous impact on the appearance of your smile. Furthermore, when the gums are eroded due to behaviors such as overly-aggressive brushing and conditions such as gum disease, Dr. Cintron offers an array of cutting-edge techniques to build up the gums. Our team at The International Center for Dental Excellence in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, also restores your oral health along with the stunning appearance of your smile.

Treating troublesome gums: Soft tissue graft techniques

The “go-to” treatment to regenerate lost gum tissue has been grafting. While grafting procedures remain viable to regenerate and augment lost or deteriorated periodontal (gum) tissues, our techniques are technologically advanced. These innovative approaches are generally less invasive, tissue-preserving, more comfortable and precise, and promote faster healing than their earlier-generation counterparts.

For instance, Dr. Cintron can integrate Plasma Rich Growth Factors derived from your own blood into the process. PRGF helps support gums’ regeneration and the healthy reattachment of the gums to the teeth. In turn, it provides a low-risk, biocompatible way to prevent further damage that could result in tooth loss and to resolve the “long in the tooth appearance,” sensitivity, and other symptoms associated with gum recession.

PRGF may be integrated with other soft and connective tissue graft materials. Once applied at the gum line, these materials augment the area and help to encourage further regeneration of tissue.

As an example of cutting-edge materials now used with modern grafting procedures, AlloDerm is another biocompatible (tissue-friendly) substance used to conservatively, safely, and precisely reconstruct the gums. It provides the scaffolding for the new cells generated after the graft is positioned. It is a far less invasive grafting method, which involves only one “wound” or “treatment site” due to the graft or tissue not being taken and relocated from one part of the patient’s mouth to another.
